Description

Ah, the devil. This was Jun Maekawa's first published work, and he hasn't done much to change it in the 25 years it's been out. It's an awesome model that took about an hour and a half to fold. It has a lot of layers, but the way he uses them is extremely interesting. I'm not so sure I like the "ears" has has (the spikes coming out of the shoulder area, when viewed from the front sort of look like ears), but that's an issue with the model itself, not the one I folded. The girls around my house have taken to calling it a gargoyle instead of a devil, and I can see why. It looks liek one. I especially love the legs on this, as simple as they are, and the horns/nose/tongue combination that goes on around the head.

Also, it's red because what other colour would you make a devil. Starts off as a 25cm sheet, ends up about a third that tall and a quarter that wide.

Model from Jun Maekawa's "Genuine Origami".
